10 gallon: one medium sized angelfish (~1 year old), 7 mixed tetras (2 head & tail light, 2 harlequin rasboras, 3 neons) and two dwarf gouramis (1 powder blue and 1 standard red/blue).
some background: i used to have other fish in a 20 tall, but due to lots of moving around (i am a college student), all but the angel and 2 tetras are currently with me. i had to move these three into a 10 because of the diminuitive size of my new dorm room (yes, it is really that bad). now i am brainstorming new setups for these three and want to do the setup i originally mentioned, and am attempting to live-plant the tank. so, do you think i should wait on the dwarf gouramis until i am able to put them back in a 20 (in like a year) or do you think a 10 is big enough for all those fish? thanks.

I think thats too many fish for a 10g. Maybe ditch the angel and get a slightly smaller group of tetras, all of one species.

Though I'd have to see the actual sizes and space in the tank to know for sure, I'd say that its probably a bit overcrowded. Of course they could all coexist in the 10g, but not comfortably. If your filtration is good and you make frequent water changes, I'd say you should be ok. But if you could somehow do something else with some of the fish, it would place a lot less pressure on the remaining fish and the biological filter.

the amount you listed would be close to maxing out a 20 gallon tank, let alone a 10. In a 10 gallon, I wouldn't keep more than a small school and maybe 1 gourami. You'd have to be careful about keeping more than 1 because they are territorial.

The angel really needs more space than a 10 gallon tank.

i know the angel should be in a 20 tall, that is why i started with a 20 tall. unfortunately though, my room this year is too small to accomodate any but a 10 gallon, so i had to move them. he is doing fine though, he is still small enough at a year old and i have left plenty of open space that he can comfortably maneuver the tank. from top to bottom, he measures half of the tank height. anyways thanks for the advice, i will just stick with him and 6 or so tetras and the plants, and get the dwarf gouramis when i am able to move them back into their bigger tank. will two male dwarf gourami's fight? i heard the dwarfs are more peaceful than the standard ones. thanks
