I'd like to add some life to my office but want to avoid the typical indoor plants. I'm thinking about a small and/or shallow dish of water with some emersed plants. There would be no water conditioning of any sort, but occasional partial water changes would be easy enough. The biggest problem, I think, is that the plant will have to be able to thrive under normal florescent office lighting. I'd like the substrate (if any) covered with pebbles, but it's not a must. These are a few thoughts I've had:
-Java Moss in a shallow dish with one or three rocks extending out of the water. Would the java moss grow very far out of the water up over stones?
-Anubias in a shallow dish.
-Some sort of lilly pad in a deaper vase or bowl. Are there any lillies that will grow well and flower in low-light?
I don't plan to put anything else alive in the containers because I think that would complicate things a bit more than I want. What are your experiences with this sort of thing? Any input is greatly appreciated.
