I want to know what your keeping with them and how different the temperment is from the gold saums that have been in the LFS. Size, color differences etc.
If this thread has been done before I appologize but I couldn't find it on this site.
They are white saums - Jeff Rapps has some for sale at www.tangleupincichlids.com they are wild caught adults so your looking a a nice price. From What I've seen( I saw one last weekend at a show) full grown male was 8" or so. It was shy at the show but from what I hear they are more aggressive than tank raised GT
Also goto www.aquamojo.com and ask around, some people have bought them.
Edit : Great minds think a like
Edit #2 : There are some pictures on www.aquamojo.com and you can even ask jeff rapps about them directly
Note the difference in scale color pattern and the characteristic sickle shaped dorsal fin of the true Rivulatus that appears to be deformed. I have kept a true Rivalutus about 15 years ago when both species were available in the pet store. The true Rivulatus soon lost popularity as they were replaced by the more colorful and more graceful finnage of the common Green Terror.
True Rivulatus show only white finage edges which the German called White Saum. Common Green Terror also show natural variation of white, orange and red finage edges often in the same batch but they belong to the same species. It's likely that in the early days some True Rivulatus had crossed with the common Green Terror resulting in dissapearance of True Rivulatus in the trade.
Who has or knows anything about the Lab. caeruleus white Nkhala morph? i saw some pictures taken in lake malawi of this variation, and have become interested in purchasing some and possibly breed since they are rare in the hobby. but being as they are rare, i have been unable to find basically anything online about them. thanks!
