I recently purchased a marineland tidepool wet dry filter and a submersible pump. The pump has a male fitting on the outlet which poses a problem for my plumbing. The only adaptor I can find to work with my plumbing is galvanized. Will metal in the sump of my tank cause problems with the fish/live plants?

The tank will be a heavily planted 55 gallon and the pump flows around 300 gph if that information will be of any use.

Thank you for your time,

Chad

Zinc will only last so long as a protector any way. It isn't meant to be submerged. Soon you will have rust plus zinc oxide.
