Mine is more than 10" right now. His mate is less than 6".
the orange on its face and body is pretty bright..
my red devil / midas was bright orange like that during the hotter months and during feeding time.. what do you feed it? any colour enhancing foods?
from the hump on its head i take it that its a male? have you tried breeding him?

He has a mate in the tank with him. They have bred, but he found out that he likes sushi cavier more than kids running around and following him
I got him when he was 10". I was told that he was fed pellets and earthworms (treat). Right now he is eating hikari gold and crickets as treat. If there are earthworms, I do feed him that as well.
This male and his mate maintain the same color. Only changes is when they get spooked...their redness/orange on their body is lighter. When they are comfortable, the color is always that bright.
