As my new tank (77gal) gets close to completing it's cycle, I'm preparing my stocking options. I want a community tank of non-agressive fish with hopefully 2 groups of schooling fish.

Is there a good source to turn too for facts on the various fish? I've been looking in books and online and there are differences in opinion that has led to some confusion for me.

For instance, I was planning on getting Platies, Cherry Barbs, Harlequins, cories, Blue Ram and Bristlenose cat. Some books have led me to believe that they would be compatible. Now I'm not so sure that the Rams would fit in very well?

Anyway, I need a source I can trust for information so that I can put together a good community.

From what I understand the Rams will only be a problem during breeding time. But with a 77 gallon you should have enough space for them to breed in and the other fish to keep away from them.

Make sure to keep at lest 5 of the barbs as they can get aggressive, though cherry barbs are awsome little fish.

Cherry barbs are awesome when its breeding time the males are really stuning in color. They don't really school , but the rasboras are a tight schooling fish. Good luck

www.fishaquarium.about.com
www.skepticalaquarist.com
www.fishinthenet.com
www.Timstropicals.com
these to have good profiles
Remmeber to read everything "with a grain of salt" especially when it comes to ph for livebearers ect because they are very adaptable-and if u get the fish at a local pet store the fish are already adapted to ur local ph-dont freak out if its not exact(like i did lol) i have a relel high ph but my fish are thriving
Have fun stocking!!!
ps
platies are freakin awesome lol theyre super cute and colurful
