I'm going to try to make the trek this Saturday from Richmond to D.C. for the Washington DC Area Marine Aquarist Society meeting. I have no idea what to expect, but then again, I like to live dangerously. :D

Anyone else going?

Usually I post an announcement, but things were too hectic this time. It will be a great meeting. There will be a frag workshop, which means you can expect to go home with at least a few free corals. The talks should be great as well. It's a good group, and I always learn a lot at the meetings.

Too bad I get on a plane Saturday morning. I'm going to try to send some frags and chaeto, but it may not happen. Take good notes at Borneman's talk, I'll be bummed to miss it.

'cuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a frag workshop?

it's a pity i;m just finishing cycling now, it will be a while before my tank is stable enough for corals :(

In the frag workshop, people bring corals that have grown too large, and experienced folks show how to chop them up and mount them.

I wouldn't worry about missing out. You will probably meet some people from your area who will be able to supply you with some good starter colonies.
