I have two male Convicts that are paired up. They move gravel together, they clean out their clay pot together. They keep every other fish away from their territory.

I have made several attempts to separate these two and place them in different tanks. Each of these tanks has a variety of females for them to pair up with. All the ends up happening is that both males chase the hell out of the females - so harshly that I put them back in the main tank upstairs. As soon as I do this, the two males pair back up and continue courting each other.

Anyone else run into this problem? I know sometimes females with pair up..

The reason I want to spawn these two males with some females is because these two males are my most attractive fish. Their colour and full flowy fins are very beautiful.

I tried the large water changes several times.
The two males aren't taking to any females...yet. I'll keep trying...even though I'm getting kinda sick of it, lol.

Yup...quite sure they are both male. They don't have female colouring - no orangish spots on their tummy. If you look close enough, you can see they ARE indeed male....*sigh*
