I have an all glass aquarium incandecsent hood, I also have 1 java fern and 1 java fern lace. I got two Sylvania 13watt Copact Flo. Spiral Bulbs. It looks much better! Are those ok for the plants? It is 800 Lumens and about 2.6 wats per gallon..
It says on the back in small print that it's color temperature is 3000k. Is it ok for other plants like dawrf sag grasss and other low light plant? BTW just dosed 10ml of FloraPride
You can definitely grow plants under that lighting.......if you can stand the yellow cast to the water. Until I found a site that had 6000K screw-ins, I was using 3400Ks and they like to drove me nuts with all the yellow, but again, the plants grew well under them.
What is the site that sells those bulbs? I actually think that They aren't really that yellow, I was just worried if the termperature color is too low since I read that optimum photopynthessis occurs under 6000-7000k
Color temp. means little for plant growth if it's between 3000 and 10000K.
The plants don't care much.....they just want light. The difference is to the human eye.
