Anybody know if its ok to sand glass??

I went today and got glass cut for my sump. I got the peices cut 12inches in length b/c that is how wide the tank is. Well of course now they wont go in straight. I was wondering if I could sand a little off the ends so I can get the pieces in place, or what should I do???

You can, but it's a bit hazardous--you don't want to breath the glass dust. I think you'll also need a specific type of sand paper, since regular stuff won't work. I'd probably just take it back and have the glass place cut them again--much safer in the long run.
 
I thought about running the pieces back up to the place I got them from but I wasnt sure how much to get trimed off. I dont know if they can trim off that small of an amount.

They should be able to trim off a very small amount--and they can safely sand them as well.
