My driftwood has devolped a rather nasty case of white fungus, at first I wasn't to concerned considering my mollies have done nothing but constantly eat the stuff. I've read that it doesn't harm any fish and goes away on its own, yet I've also read that any fish that eat it will die while it increases the amonia/nitrite/nitrate levels.

Does anyone have personal experiance regarding whether to bother removing the fungus or to just leave it? I think I will remove the driftwood tomorrow and boil it for a while. . . kind of tired right now :thud:

Any help is appreciated.

I'm just a newb, but when I had fungus on my driftwood , I just sucked it off with my gravel vac. I think I read somewhere that some dw will do that. I wouldn't be to worried about it, but I could be wrong.

Just remove it.

It's not that big a deal.

I worked at a nature center where we had that stuff growing on the driftwood in the African lungfish tank.

It never harmed anything but I removed it anyway. Can clog up plants and catch floating debris.
