The heat doesn't work well, so the heater in my betta's 10g is on a lot. I have it set to 78 degrees. The temp in the fish room is right around 70 during the day. I am worried about it being on almost constantly. I have space heaters in the rooms I use most often and have considered moving one into the fish room, but I do not want to leave it unattended. It is an Ebo. I know the things are sturdy. Should I stop worrying?

Theoretically the heater will wear out faster but I don't know this. If I had my 10gallon set-up permanently (it's my Q-tank in the basement which is 60-65degrees) I would replace the heater after 2 years just to be safe.

Insulation around the back and 2 sides would help retain heat. A fashionable towel or blanket or even bubblewrap would work.
