Just wondering if the use of Nitra Zorb will adversely affect my plants.

I'm not familiar with the product, but it sounds like it would. Why make life more difficult (and expensive) for yourself. All a planted tank needs in the filter is some form of substrate for biological filtration (wool, floss, sponges, bioballs, etc.). All the water needs added to it is dechlor. at water changes and ferts as necessary.

Save your money for the next tank you buy. ;)

I agree with Happychem. And if you are having a problem with nitrates, then regular weekly water changes should keep them under control. I do at least 50% a week. If you have a Python No-Spill you can do it in about 20 minutes.

I do weekly 25-30% changes religously, it just seems like something is wrong if the nitrates are still that high.

Take a sample of tap water and set it out over night. Tomorrow run a nitrate test and also, if you have a kit, test for P out of the tap.
