How well do the critters in live rock and live sand do in cold temps? I am going to have my nano-reef cycling within the week if all goes as planned, so I'm planning on begging some people for cupfuls of live sand to get some good biodiversity in my fuge. If it gets cold, say, into the 40s, would most of the critters live, or owuld they die?

Also I plan to order the nano package from liveaquaria.com as soon as possible, probably as soon as there's water in my tank. How does live rock do shipped in colder temps? Should I just get it locally? (I'd prefer not to since it's mostly low quality stuff at high quality prices)

Thanks for your help

Folks doing the shipping can pick up a cheap heat pack via Aquabid.
Most commercial outfits (like LiveAquaria) are experienced shippers and will pack your things accordingly.

I would not let any tropical creature/organism get chilled to the point of the 40's- nope.
But with heat packs it is easy enough to work around.
