DIY Protien Skimmers for Dummies

I was thinking about buying a skilter 400 because of the price - but remember hearing if it sounds too good to be true....

Would anyone have a link for a DIY skimmer? I need one that is really easy to follow - preferably with pictures or very readable drawings -or with both.

Here's a list of links (http://www.wamas.org/links/DIY/skimmers.htm) for DIY skimmers from our local club. I haven't tried any of them, because the commercially available ones are better made and more efficient than anything I can make. Plus, it takes a lot of time.

The skilter is not really worth much as a skimmer. Every once in a while, I read a post from a relatively new reefer who has dumped their skilter for another model, and is amazed what a real skimmer can do.
