Well, last weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology where I met up with with Dr. Robert Toonen also known on the boards as Biogeek, and Dr. Clyde Tamaru.

It was a fascinating visit to see what they were working on at the time as well as seing what future projects they have coming up. If any of you do not know about this unique Island, it is name Gilligans Island as this is the Island that is pictured in the opening scene of the show. This little atol has quite the history and IMO is worth looking through the site as there is a wealth of information in the world of marine husbandry.

One Roberts latest studies, which he just concluded, is the ol contraversy between DSB and plenum set-ups which is a comparison between the two. I hope to be able to acquire this article for you guys to read. The results were interesting and surprising to say the least.

Way cool! Totally jealous--the only experiments going on around involve salmonids--not very applicable to my tanks. :( Would this be something we could put in the article corner?

At least you're dealing with fish. My current experiments involve a protein with the exciting name of 14-3-3.

I can't wait to see some actual science about DSBs and plena!

OG,

I am hoping that we can have access to his articles. I did talk with Robert about this when we were there. Robert, as you can see, contributes quite a bit to the aquarium world through TFH as well as a number of other publications. He use to be a member here as Biogeek and still is a member at RC but hasnt posted in quite awhile there. I think his membership here went by the wayside when we changed over to the new software.

This has gotten me geared up again to get started on a dream that one day will happen.
