Glosso and wpg?

I have trouble growing it horizontally at less than 3 watts/gal. It will grow at 2 for me, but will climb toward the light, and that's with 30ppm/CO2 in a relatively low tank. So that would be my recommendation.

Tom Barr swears that it will grow horizontally at 2, so I'd give it a shot at that wattage and please let us know what your success rate was and the wattage used.
I have found that just because I can't grow certain plants in certain conditions, it doesn't mean others can't.

It grew nicely at 1.5 w/gal in a 10 gal.
40w over a 20 high is fine.
Steve's 125 gal grew plenty of Gloss for many years at 2.1 w/gal, then he sold the tank which is now at Albany and it's have a dozen or so folks keep very flat Gloss with the same tank.
R macandra, Eustralis etc......

No one had more than 2 w/gal back when we first got some.
Nothing to do with showing off.
It grows too fast in higher light and piles on top of itself, not longer being a short turf that looks orderly.

4x 65 w is good for a 120 gal tank(4x2x2) or so.
I'd suggest you use less, not more iof you want to keep some of these plants and have them grow at rates that allow you more control and more wiggle room.

Get as much as you can, but plant in 2-4 leaf pieces about 1" apart, it'll fill in about 2-4 weeks time.
