would one 500watt titanium heater be enough for a 135 gallon tank. i want to get away from my glass ones, and would like to only have to add one heater.

Yep, sure should be. As tank size increases, you need fewer watts per gallon to maintain a stable temp. I have 500W titaniums in both my 120's (both have 50 gallon sumps, heaters are in the sumps), and they stay very, very stable.
