View Full Version : Do I get rid of them?

in my 77g tank, I have

6 red wag platies
6 pepper coris
1 bristlenose
20 Harlequins
4 Serpae tetra

The tetra were a mistake and a lapse in judgement on my part. I was thinking of taking them back but they actually school very nicely and haven't been harassing too much (that I've seen anyway). I tried to net them but they are fast and I have a lot of hiding spaces. So in order to get them out I would have to rip a lot of my tank apart.

Would removing them be the safest thing to do or could they be acceptable tankmates for the fish I have? I was also hoping to add a pair of Blue ram and a couple more cories down the road. My main preference would be to replace the Serpae with the Emporer Tetra but is it worth the trouble??

I would just keep them and maybe add 2-3 more (they school better that way and would have less aggression). People that have kept Serpea tetras do not buy enough nor keep them in big enough tanks (a 75 is good). They feel crowded and cannot school properly. All your fish like soft acidic water except the platies. My emperor school more then any of my other tetras (my cardinals hang together but do not school).
