Okay, I have a male convict and a female jellybean cichlid (pink convict X bp) that are now taking care of a bunch of fry. I have noticed that my other female jelly bean cichlid's colour has intensified and she is hanging out in and around the hollowed out piece of fake wood. Her belly has also gotten larger. It seems that instead of pairing up with the other smaller male convict, she seems to be more interested in the male of the already mated pair. She goes up to him and swims around him until he or his mate chases her away from the fry. Anyone know why she is doing this? The male is clearly not interested.
