Just replaced all my fish (11-6-04) with a nice, young JD. Great fish! One thing I have noticed though, is that the body is not the black/brown color it once was at the LFS. Was that just a "I'm the king" thing back at the LFS?? He/she was with firemouths, JD's, GT's, convicts, etc. The body has a good color pattern to it. The blueish speckles, the black dots at the tail and the dorsal lines. It just won't turn black. It eats fine! So it assume it is healthy. Just wondering if there was white breed of these fish. Thanks!

Ciao!

there is a "gold" morph to the regular Jd. It won't have any of the blue speckels , or at least thats what I've seen. If yours was black/darker in color at the store and has lightened up once you got him home its natural. It may be stressd being in his new home. Mine Has gone through many changes and is now light again b/c of stress of a convict pair with fry. Also when it goes back dark then its the dominant fish when in a group of its own.
