View Full Version : Can leaves recover from light deprivation?

Today I did a long-overdue (what a difference a week made!) pruning of most of the plants, and found that some have yellowed leaves near the base of the stems (ambulia in particular) - the tank was stuffed with plants, I left the pruning too long and many of the lower leaves and smaller stems were deprived of light. All but the very lowest leaves are glorious green and not all the plants are affected, so I'm assuming it's from light deprivation - the Iron levels checked out okay when I tested today.
I'm curious if the leaves will recover, or if it's best to take off the green tops and replant them as new cuttings?
Thanks :)

I don't believe they will recover. I just pick them off. The tops always look best so most just re-plant them. You can leave the base if it isn't in too bad a shape.

It seems okay - it's in there pearling as we speak - but a close look does reveal that parts of the bottom of the bunch are yellowish. Since it seems to be doing fine I'm just going to let it be and maybe take top cuttings and discard the base at next week's pruning.
