I have 2 AQ filters on my tank. Even set at the lowest flow, there is a lot of current. I've got at least 1 cory that tries swimming in one place and he keeps getting pushed back. He's a trooper though as he works pretty hard sometimes - he never gives up.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has tried a project to put some sort of screen under the filter flow thus creating a large area trickle bar? I'm thinking I would still have good airation plus buffer the current. Then again maybe the fish like the current and they are just playing? Though my little cory seems to get pretty tired out at times.

maybe you could put an upsidedown v infront of the output? then the power of the water would be split into two, halfing the concentration, and also making the contact with the point closer to teh water, thus making less current, or so logic would make me think...

Some planted tank folks do what you're aiming for all the time. Take a filter sponge long enough to fit over the outflow, cut a slit in the middle of the long edge and slide it over the filter outflow. There should be enough sponge in the back to keep it wedged firmly between tank wall and back of filter outflow. The filter return water will hit the sponge and softy flow back into the tank. Now, crank your filters to full blast and get their maximum use!

So I assume that means that there would still be plenty of airation happening if they are using this method with planted tanks... hmmm I think I'll give it a try. Thanks
