How long without feeding

Since there are some holidays coming up, me being a student, having to go home for the holidays for mother. How long can a tank go unfed. This thanksgiving break is 4 days, what about a week, obviously 2 weeks is definately a no, are there tablets or something that can prolong the time between the vacation feeding?

Ive never had any success with pellets that release food over time, but thats just me. Your fish should be fine for 4 days without food, even a week should be ok. Over a week you should probably try to get someone to feed your fish.

I have read somewhere, I don't know if thats here or on another site, but putting a plant in the tank as a feeder?

i went about 2 days shy of 4 weeks on my fish....trying to wean him off feeders...no luck...
