What is a good number of corys to keep? I was thinking of getting two, but should I really be thinking three or four? I'm cycyling still and haven't made any decisions yet on what type of fish, still too much to research!! But, when I do get them I want to make sure everyone is happy.

Cory cats are best kept in groups, but how many you get also depends on the number and size of other fish. The usual recommendation for corydoras is at least 3.

I have a pair of cory, a male and female. They are sometimes together but always seem to be busy doing there own thing, foraging, zipping to the top and back down to forage. They seem oblivious to the other fish and behave like they don't know the others are there. Sometimes the male will chase my swordtail around for sport. The lonliest number is 1, as far as cory are concerned IMO. ;)

Thanks for the replys..

TKOS..It is a 37 gallon, with eclipse filtration/hood.

I think I will go for three of them, what should I feed them - flakes, pellets, wafers? Are they mostly bottom scavengers or do they eat algae also?

They don't eat algae. They eat most food that drifts to the bottom and appreciate shrimp pellets as well as whatever flake food drifts down. Be sure your tank is well cycled and has other fish for a while before adding them as they are very sensitive to ammonia.

Buy some sort of sinking pellet so that they get first dibs. I use a combination of wardley shrimp pellets and Tetra's Complete Tablet for bottom feeders. They get one or the other each day but only 1 pellet per three fish. No need to over feed them.

Not sure if mine like frozen blood worms. none has ever made it to the bottom of the tank LOL.
