i have an emerald corie and i just noticed that he is lying on his back. he is still breathing. is this normal?

Does he swim aroun at all. I have seen my cories get into wierd postions before but if he doesn't swim around if you startle him or nudge him then I would say he is pretty sick.
ya he still moves around every so often. but he moves in a weird kind of way, i have never seen them do this before. he lies on his back for a long period of time, then flips around a few times then goes back to lying on his back
