Aquariums in bars

I went to this new bar last weekend and they had about 4+ tanks in various places. Looked like 40g highs or something with small (fresh water) fish. Looked like various larger tetras, some danios or something danio-shaped and what looked maybe some type of cichlids....maybe gouramis from across the room. Most of them looked like juvies. I was only in there for about 20 minutes so I never really got to check them out but from what I saw they had power heads and under gravel filters. Luckily they only had a few fish per tank, so I'm hoping they won't start looking like total crap anytime soon.

Nothing impressive but still pretty cool. Just think of how nice they could make it if they had a staff member who shared the hobby. If I ever go back before it gets crowded I'll try to get a few pics with my camera phone.

Anyway, I just thought that it was cool. The only other places I have seen aquariums are seafood places.

heh, yeah......they put those lobsters in the front for a reason :D

Now that you mention it I do remember seeing some really nice tanks at the Bass Pro shops. I've only been to 3 of them in my life time, and the closest one is 3 hours away.

This is the first time I have seen it somewhere I would just go hang out on the weekend, though. ....i think

Yes, the one at the Bass Pro Shop in Orlando is huge. Nice bass in there too!!! Our Red Lobster here in Lakeland had a really nice cyclid tank.

There are a few bars and restaurants, even stores that I coud think of off hand, here in Montreal that got some pretty cool setups.

Club called Tops has a large tank with African Cichlids,
DEX Brothers store has a really nice FOWLR inwall tank,
Sharks pool hall has a couple of nice tanks,
Beaches bar has a nice salt water tank...

That's all I could think of off hand.. .

I went to a resteraunt in Buffalo NY that had some really big aquariums, including on giant aquariumn that held a shark.

Cool! There are a few restaurants around here that have really nice saltwater set ups. It always makes for an interesting meal!!

There's a bar here that has four nano-reef's built into the wall behind the bar, it's a neat looking custom setup. Kinda flashy, but really catches your eye.

As long as there taken car of I like them, there is a bar around by me that has a 400+ gallon and I need to go and see it one of these days.

I had a 29 gallon tall in the bar I built in my apartment, along with a mini beer fridge. :)

Once I was working at an interior design show, and saw the most amazing thing I've seen since goldfish inside platform shoes (and I hope that's only on TV and wasn't ever a real thing).
Four designers competed in a challenge to build a 'complete living space' within one room - kind of like the ultimate bachelor apartment. There were certain elements that had to be contained within the space beyond the basic needs of a cooking area, sleeping area, etc. and one of these was something tranquil/relaxing. One designer decided to utilise the extremely limited space in an interesting way - rather than turning the area under the kitchen counter into cupboard space or having a pull-out table, they used acrylic to make the counter base and created a huge aquarium. I'm sure it was hard to maintain even for the seven days of the show, and it's not practical in any way, but WOW, what an eye catcher!
