I have a 3.5" Texas in a 55G with a 6" carpinte. The carpinte used to chase the texas around some, but for the past 2 days, the have been hanging out and share a cave/pit together. I take it that they are bonding. I'm curious as to what changed the behavior., and how this works with cichlids. I aways thought that the carpinte was a male, but i have seen the little texas do the shaking thing in front of the carpinte. This i take it makes the texas the male, right?
And, is the Texas, regardless of sex, big enough to breed? I have had the Texas for about 2 months, went from a little speck of a dull 1.5" fish to a white/grey front, dark black bars twards the back and belly, blue speckled fish.
Thanks for any help.
