thought on diy co2

Has anyone thought of using PVC pipe for there DYI co2? Most of it can handle 80+ pounds of presser. You could use a 4” peace about a foot long with a cap on one end and a reducer down to ¾ of an inch. Then just your ¾ to 1/8. You could just off with ¾ to 1/8 inch to empty and refill it. You would need to use Teflon tape on the thread fitting and you should not get any leaking.

I have been using 2 and 3 letter drink bottles but the tops leak at about 2 ponds of presser.

I just got to thinking and it's 40+ not 80+....

For every foot of water you go deep in to the tank that you’re pumping the co2 down to you’re looking at 1 to 1.5 pounds of presser. But I found no mater what I do the top of the 2 liter will leak at about 1.8 pounds of presser (this was test after tightening the cap on the bottle 10 times and removing the cap).

Most tanks aren’t but 30” deep at the most. As long as you keep this in mind and put the PVC to getter properly (primmer & solvent), use SCH. 40 pipe or better, and get SCH. 40 fittings you should be fine. The barbed fitting and the hose will leak before 30 PSI is hit. This should be a safety right there. and I have seen a lot of postings throughout the net about using a T adaptor in the line incase the presser builds to high with the 2 liter bottle method.
