my male molly is chasing my female platy around sometimes but never harms her , is this necassarelly breeding because i had that platy breed with a guppy before so i was thinking the platy can also breed with the molly but im not sure ... someone help please :) :bowing:

Mollies are best with 2 females and 1 male. Mollies and Platys cannot breed. I have a female molly and a female platy that do the same thing.

Male livebearers will try to breed with everything. I mean everything. Whether or not they're compatible, they'll try! I have one male platy that had a crush on my angelfish for the longest time - the platy used to harass the angel relentlessly. I saw the same little male try to get romantic with 1/2" babies, the pleco, and I'm sure if he could catch the barbs or SAEs he'd give it a shot!
It's really best to have at least 2-3 females per male, to spread the affection around :D
