Try feed it market shrimp and silversides, it'll love them. Earthworms and sinking carnivore pellets are also great, and if its smaller, bloodworms are a favorite as well.

:) . I belong to a few forums, mostly specializing in predatory fish, so i learn a lot through them (here too). Ropefish are very similar to bichirs, which i happen to be addicted to and have done a lot of reading, mostly through archived threads and websites. I gotta admit, i'm still a newb though. Most of what i suggest is advice from others that i have tried, and has worked well. I'm learn something new everyday.

Sorry to change the direction of the thread, but this worries me a bit. Your bushynose isn't eating? That's not a good sign. Mine was shy for the first few days, but now when a pellet hits the tank floor he's on it like it's his last meal.
I find my fish have always gone absolutely nutso for Hikari algae wafers - other sinking pellets and algae wafers just got ignored or eaten slowly, but the Hikari ones must taste good because everyone jumps all over them. You could try changing foods or offering blanched veggies - if he still won't eat, something's wrong so please post so someone can help him.

CIRSKING1 make sure you have no open spots on the hood of your tank. I had a rope fish and he was eating and happy and they told me at the LFS that he would escape. I had 1 open area for my filtration system. And the lil bugger jumped out and to his death. I woke up the next am and found a dried up fish on my carpet
It was kinda sad. He was a great fish to watch!

Yes I just had a spaghetti eel do the same thing but I only found half of him and a cat with an upset stomach.

I've had my bristlenose for about a year now and i've never seen him eat, in fact i never see him. Maybe once a month or so. hes v ery shy and only comes out at night, but he seems to be doing well enough.
