Id like to get a 45 or 55 gallon tank, but am undecided on what to put in it. I want aggressive fish, like cichlids, but Im only familiar with types at the LPS. Can anyone help on some beautiful cichlids or other aggressive fish that would go well in the same tank? I would maybe like something that I could feed live food.

Sounds like you are looking for something similar to what we did. We have:
1 alunochara sp. "eureka" (lake malawi chichlid)
1 yellow labidochromis (lake malawi chichlid)
5 tiger barbs ( 3 green 1 albino and 1 regular coloration)
3 odessa barbs
1 pleco
These two cichlids are rather unaggressive (for cichlids that is) and won't get bigger than 6" long. The barbs help fill out the tank rather than just having two cichlids and give it activity. Thats just what we have, but a cichlid barb tank has let us do an aggresive community tank.
