My LFS has Bio-Spira! So now I have some questions...

I was here a couple of weeks ago, then disappeared due to a dreadfully sick 2-yr-old who decided to share her germs with me...

After much research, I've decided to give Bio-Spira a go. I have set up my tank, tested the water (to get baseline info), conditioned the water, run the filter and heater for a day to make sure it's all working, and tomorrow I'm going to get my fish, add the Bio-Spira, then add the fish after acclimating them. It's a 10-gallon tank, and I'm adding 6 harlequin rasboras and 3 panda corys.

Here are my questions:

1. What temperature should my tank be? I called the lfs (10 minutes away) and asked them what temp they keep their tanks at - was told 78-80 degrees. I'm at about 78 right now, should I keep it there?

2. Should I feed my new babies right away, or should I let them get used to their new home for a while? Any recommendations on food for rasboras and corys?

I plan to test the water twice daily to make sure the Bio-Spira is working as it should. Is there anything else I should be thinking about?

Thanks in advance for any advice you have to offer!

Amy

Get a journal to record all your info in. I'd think that testing once a day would be fine, but whatever works for you. Pretty soon you will be testing once a week during regular water changes, as you get confortable that it has stabelized.

how big is your tank?

with biospira you add it with the full fish load so if you were to add more fish later you would either need to add biospira with any new additions or you will have a mini cycle with new additions as the bacteria catches up

i did the full fish load on a 40 gallon using biospira and have not had a problem so i wish you the exact same results :D
