Oh I need some help. My ten gallon has green algae! It's gross, it's kind of hairy but not really. My blue gravel is now more green! I have a rubbermouth pleco but he did not do the job. I cleaned my tank and took out too much water trying to suck the algae out and all my fish died! So I got new fish-male betta and 4 white cloud danios. The pleco is still in another tank. What can I do to get rid of this stuff? What will eat it? What causes it?

Thank you!

Try getting some Otos. That should take care of your problem.

Causes of Algea:
Direct Sunlight
Overfeeding
Infrequent Water Changes
Lights left on too long

Possible reasons why your fish died:
Possible chlorine in your tap water, you should treat it before doing water changes
Rapid temperature change during water change
