Hey,
Has anyone had problems recently with Wardley's shrimp pellets? I've been using them for a couple of years because my Corys love them, and all of a sudden the pellets are disintegrating as soon as you put them in the water. So fast that the catfish barely have time to nibble on them. It's making a god-awful mess. I thought maybe I just had a bad batch, so I went to the LFS and bought a new jar, but had the same problem.

What gives? My corys are so bummed!

Mine are working fine, are they really old?

Try the Omega One (http://www.omegasea.net) brand shrimp pellets. You won't be disappointed! :)

I second Omega One- my cories, plecos and UD Cats love them....plus the ingredients looked a lot more seafood based with salmon, shrimp, krill, cod, herring, squid, etc....,the other stuff is loaded with wheat and soy as the number one ingredients.

again, omega one. I tried wardleys but my fish would ignore them omega one is the best I've used (at least from the fish eating them standpoint). just some odd info, my local petsmart said they were not carrying anymore shrimp pellets because their district felt they cloud the water too fast and are a bad product?? I'm not sure what the heck is going on but my local LFS is planning to keep the omega one pellets in stock so I'm not worried. Kyle

Wow, what area is this?! They stop selling something they think is bad? I'd love it if I could get my store at least to stop carrying little tiny fishbowls packaged as 'Goldfish kits'...more accurately, 'Goldfish killing kits'. :(

Never tried wardleys, but I'll third (or fourth, fifth) the Omega. My Yo-yo's go nuts for them, and the gouramis and barb get in the mix of picking at them. It's kind of fun watching them all feed together.

i strongly believe a bad/contamnated batch of wardleys shrimp pellets killed my tank of L66 plecos. i doidn't notice till afterwards that they were smaller than usual and smelled funny. i still feed warleys but inspect closer when i open a anew can

I have been using Wardley's in combination with their algae disks and some Tetras complete tablets for my cories for the past 2 years. I havent' had any problems with mine and the cories go crazy for them. There must have been a whole bad batch made and sold to the same store. Maybe they were overcooked and got too dry?

I have the Aquarian brand of shrimp pellets. Don't know how they compare to anything else, but all the fish in my aquarium fight over them.

I use wardley's shrimp pellets. I can't recall if there is an expiration date on the can, but it won't hurt to check. I suspect the can in the initial post sat on a shelf too long.

However, wardleys' pellets are not going to be for sale much longer as a couple months ago they announced they were discontinuing them for some reason - which I don't believe had anything to do with bad product.

I concure with the omega one.

Another great shrimp pellet is the sinking one HBH makes. They are FANTASTIC!

Since we started selling them at the store we have begun to faze out the wardleys. The HBH is out selling them 5 to 1

Thanks for the suggestions. As far as I can tell, there is no expiration date on the Wardley's. Maybe that's the problem. I will definitely try the omega one or HBH!
