Been meaning to ask how I can go about getting more pods in my tank and Olafs thread really brought it to mind(want to mail me some? ;))

I have had my setup 3-4 mos. Fish w/hermit crabs, snails, one star. A little rock, not very live. I did see 2 pods on my filter pad but nothing like the "all over the place" stories I see on the board

OG said they reproduced based on food availability? Explain more please and where do they come from in the first place-fish waste, LR, the pod god???

I would like to do a mandarin down the road but have no confidence with what I see in there now

One thing they need is a place to hide and hang out. Wads of macroalgae, rubble piles, even filter pads help amphipods to multiply. WHat helps a lot is a refugium, where they can live and breed without being preyed upon. If you have a few, then they should multiply if there is sufficient food and hiding places.

I have an Eclipse 6 as my only marine tank. I have two other tank both being brackish. 150g & 30g.
In all my tanks I have CELL PORE. The Copepods run through the CELL PORE bottom like ants through an ant hill. I do has some "Live Sand" on top of the Cell Pore but only enough to cover it and for the flounders to hide. About 1/4" of sand (.5mm to 2mm grain) more of the larger size so it doesn't plug the CELL PORE. I also have some filament algae growing (very little) about an area of 1/2" x 1". The filament algae is short maybe 1/4" to 1/2" long and very compact. I regularly brush the live rock with a VERY SOFT tooth brush to control the growth of the Algae, so it don't choak off the other living things on the peice of rock.
