what do you think? I'm totally stuck on this one. it's empty other than the pelco.

the tank is 4 foot long and I'd quite like a few medium sized fish with a little bit of character.

I normally have shoals of small fish, but I've grown board of them as I can't even tell them apart.

I'd throw a few more hiding places in there, switch it over to brackish and make it a home for a few puffers :D

I can't tell how big it is, maybe a 40-55g?

I'd like a few angels, maybe...

I've always wanted to start a cichlid tank. Like maybe a Rainbow Cichlid, or Duboisi Cichlid. Or maybe an assortment of Malawians like a Electric Yellow and Blue Peacock or Demasoni. Those would bring a nice coloring to the tank...but you'd have to research if they're compatiable. From my knowledge they are, but I'm not expert so don't take my word on it.

However, you probably should switch over to a softer substrate like aragonite and create a few more hiding places or caves.

I'm not too fond of freshwater fish myself. Like I said my initial reaction is to get a couple of Green Spotted puffers and eventually turn the tank brackish. They aren't exactly a "feed flakes and leave alone" type of fish though. They require a variety of food, hiding places, lots of room (your tank is perfect size), and lots of attention...but it pays off. They really are interesting to keep.

I'm about a step away from buying a tank just for a large lobster BTW haha just so I can watch him come out of hiding, grab the food, and go back in his cave. A Blue Knight Lobster generally won't eat other fish unless they're slow, because they are pretty slow themselves. The downsize is that they get up to 1'.

I'm of no help, I'm simply rambling to myself haha

Let us know what you decide to do! :)

60 gallon? i would get some smaller cichlids like fire mouths, key holes etc. and then maybe a school or giant danios to roam around up top.

what kinda fish are you into?

Looks like an awesome set up for cichlids! Lots of hiding spots and it looks like a good size. They have plenty of character for you! I love them!

should of said how big it is really, duh

the tank is 30cm x 30 cm x 120cm thats just over 100l.

or 25g i think. not too hot on metric imperial conversions, i'd like a bigger tank, but it's upstairs and i don't want it to fall though the floor, haha

the pleco is about 25-30cm long or 11" roughly, hes gotta stay. because i've had him for 8 years or so.

so what ever goes in there needs to be pelco friendly :)

chichlids are a nice idea, would they get on the the pleco?

cheers for the advice

25 is not that big..... If it HAS to be pleco friendly, i suggest....

-2 or 3 South American Leaf Fish
-some guppies for the South American Leaf Fish

OR

-A couple of Dwarf Puffers

i've seen some red spoted puffers for sale in my LFS grow to 6cm apparently

i always assumed pufferfish were more at home in brakish waters? is this not the case? if so i would be interested in getting some of these little guys.

other than guppys, what would make good tank makes for them?

i have lots of snails in this tank, so i'm sure they'd like that. also what other foods do they need to stay heathly

thanks

30 cm = approx. 12 inches
120 cm = approx. 48 inches

1 ft x 1 ft x 4 ft = 4 cubic feet of water

7.48 gallons in a cubic foot of water, so

7.48 x 4 = 29.92 gallons, roughly

:D
