Today I was inspecting my tank and I noticed these weird looking cysts on my cory cat. Just the 1 out of 6. I attatched a pic if any on can tell me what it is. There is the bigger one on the side fin, one behind the dorsal, and one on his tail. It doesn't look like ick to me because the rest of the fish in the tank are fine. he seems to be acting normal other than the growths, but I put him in the q tank by himself just to be sure, Any help is as always appriciated. Thanks

Cysts

It looks like a lymphocyte (sp?). Basically fish skin cancer/ a cyst. If the tank conditions are kept up it usually doesn't spread and is mainly just ugly.
Removal is really only possible by cutting it off.
Lymphocytes are commonly seen on the pectoral fins of bettas (m).
If it was my cory I would hope its a lymphocyte which would be unlikely to affect the fish, if its not that then maybe fungus/ or fungal growth du to injery. If it spreads at all (in size) try salt(non-iodized for aquariums), or you could try PimaFix.

hmmm....I though that it might be cancer of some sort its really odd. I have noticed that behind his lateral fins that it looks kinda carved out. Thanks for the help thou...Any on else got any idea's?

I am not too sure where cancer starts or how many places. Any one else??Idea,s???Thanks

well cancer basically starts with a defective cell which goes out of control; comsuming all nutrients, thus starving the other nearby cells, and dividing at an abnormally high rate, so it wouldnt make sense for there to be several in different sections of the body...
maybe someone else knows better, though.

cyst addendum

Aparently catfish don't get the condition Lymphocystis specifically, though it may be a cyst of some sort. It could also be something called pic, where there was an injury to the area and a protective growth formed over it like a scab.
