I stocked my tank w/ biospira a few days ago and so far so good... I was just wondering, if i wanted to add another fish or 2 in the future would I have any problems without using another dose of biospira? I had to mail order it in the first place so another dose for a single fish isn't realistic...

Since you already have a good bacteria load in the tank you should be safe. But add no more than 2 small fish at a time and monitor for any ammonia and nitrite spikes. You will be safe as long as you do water changes to conteract any spikes. In a week or so the bacteria load should stabilize again at a higher level.

Sorry, but the nitrification bacteria will die back to match the existing bioload in the tank, they cannot stay alive without their energy source, so they will soon match the waste loads produced by the existing stock only. Future additions must be handled slowly and carefully as TKOS detailed.

I added a Firefish Goby and 4 dwarf hermit crabs the day I put in SW Bio Spira. The next week I added 2 Yellowtailed Blue Damsels. This is a 30 gal high. It`s been set up a little over 6 weeks.Ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are all 0 to date.

Thanks for the replys, i figured it would be a mini cycle, all I'm thinking about adding is maybe a female dw. gourami if i can find one or a couple ottos , maybe some more java ferns too - do plants have a signifigant impact on the cycle?

Some of the faster growing plants will use the ammonia excess produced asa food source. When the cycle is stabilized they will switch to using nitrates, which aren't as easy for them to use as ammonia. So adding live plants is a good thing. Just watch to remove any dying leaves as they will rot and cause excess ammonia in the tank.
