I mistakenly bought frozen daphnia instead of frozen bloodworms! (they look the same)

But, being me, I lost the receipt and can't return them. I paid good money for these and wonder if I can feed these to my shrimp and/or puffer fish and gobies. Any help would be great!

:OT: Err... When I thaw my frozen food for the puffers, can I rinse the food with tap water as some people suggest? Or must I use brackish water? Using non-chlorinated BW would be a HUGE hassle!

Frozen blood worms and frozen daphnia look nowhere near the same...

I hope you have alot of fry to feed those too =)

Just use a fine mesh netting or an old panty hose to rinse the food out. I prefer not to use tank water anymore. Rinsing the food gets rid of all the particles you don't want and the digusting water that it's frozen in.
I just recently starting really rinsing my food since I began breeding my angels and several pairs of dwarf cichlids and i wonder why it took so long for me to start doing it =)

Do you rinse in tap or not?

And about the daphnia...they're only good for fish fry?

Daphnia is pretty tiny. I use tap.

Sorry, I guess I didn't mention that tap is ok. Daphnia is really small, only good for fish fry at that size. Otherwise it just makes one hell of a mess in your tank.

I feed daphnia to all my fish from my oscars to the smaller fish like the mollies. They all love it and eat it up fast. I never have a mess left over.

So do I. They're also great for bamboo shrimp and goldfish.

Daphina is fine bbgobies would love it, if thats the kind you have. It just takes a little longer to eat no biggie. As far as rinsing it, and I hate to say this as I don't much like others doing it to me, but its a waste of time. Conditions where daphina is raised are clean enough. Tubiflex are another story.

Even for commercially sold frozen fish foods it's necessary to rinse your food, even though they're frozen in sterile conditions.
