hello all...

this is my 1st post here so please bare with me... i have a newly setup 10 gal fresh water i only have a 4" arrowana by himself. i was wondering if the filter (aqua 300) be too strong for the tank? will this filter cause stress to my fish...

any reply is greatly thanx

I would reccomend you try to bring back the arowana to the store where you bought it. It needs about a 180 gallon aquarium. As for other fish, I think the filter should be fine. What size aquarium is it rated for?

A 300gph filter would turn over the water in that tank 30 times per hour. Now, you can't really "over-filter" a tank afaik, but that would create an awful lot of current in that little tank. Might be something to think about.

It should be fine, you could diffuse the current with driftwood catching so of the flow, or put it on a lower setting if the currents too strong. But an arrowana in a ten? you'll want that much filteration:)

the Aqua 300 was giving to my from a friend... about the arowanna dun worry because i have 130 gal freshwater already setup...

back to the AC 300 filter even when i turn it to min the current seem to be strong.

I guess it would depend on the fish and how much turbulence they like. Also if the filter has a flow adjustment you could try turning it down a little.

if you turn the adjustment on an aquaclear all the way down and it's still too high, pull up on the u-tube so it comes off the bottom of the impeller chamber in the filter. You can turn it down as much as you'd like this way, even turn it all the way off
