Well, we got through everything ok and I only lost the 2 fish I spoke of before.

So we got 2 harlequin rasboras and 2 glowlight tetras, and the glowlights are being very aggressive towards the other 2 glowlights in the tank. I've left the lights off but they're still chasing the other fish like crazy.

The 2 rasboras don't seem to be doing all that well in the tank. They are staying right at the top of the tank and are being very quiet.

I acclimated all fish to the tank water by putting them in a bowl and taking out some bag water, adding tank water on the schedule I've always followed.

Will these fish settle down or is there anything else I can do?

Thanks. I looked just now and the tetras seem to be schooling, although chasing a little. I hope the rasboras are ok, but one guy tried to end it all and jumped out of the bowl and onto the table. We didn't see him for a minute or so, but he seemed ok once he was back in the water.

Hopefully everyone will be okay and happy in the morning.

Well, the 2 rasboras didn't make it. The one who jumped out died first, and then I noticed that the other one had a very badly damaged tail fin. The way that Petcetera (yeah, I know, but the only place that has rasboras) have their tanks, you can't see the fish very well before they are put into the bag. My older son said that he thought there was something wrong with one of their tails when he saw them in the bowl while we were acclimating them.

I'm going to take them back and get 2 more glowlights so I have a school of 6. The rasboras we got didn't have very much orange coloration, but I figured they were young and would develop more later on. I think this was a new shipment of fish and were stressed already, because there were a lot in the tank. You don't see rasboras very frequently around here, and if you do, there's usually only 5 or 6 available at any one time.

My question is: I've been running the tank with 2 rasboras, 2 glowlights, and 2 cories for about 3 weeks. I've added the 2 glowlights from yesterday and they are fine today and schooling with the original 2. I know I should have more rasboras, but I'm a little leery of the ones they have there now. My 2 cories are happy the way they are - they are little buddies and are always scavenging the tank together. One of them will even come to the top and take food from my fingers sometimes.

If I add 2 more today, will I be overloading the tank and should we wait for a week or two? Or is it better to add them now and have them get their pecking order over and done with right away?

I would give it a week or so before adding more fish. Let things settle down and the inevitable minicycle finish up. They will probably chase and "fight" when you add new fish but it is just a dominace issue and eventually the leader will emerg. My tetras still give chase every so often after 3 years, just to let each other know who the boss is.

Hi, TKOS.

Do you think I'm stocked to capacity with 4 glowlights, 2 rasboras, and 2 cories? I don't plan to add any cories, because they're happy, but I don't know whether I can add a couple glowlights or another 2 rasboras (providing I can find some nice ones). They seem to be hard to find around here.

I started another thread about this, but opinions are really varied.
