I have a 55 gallon with a Penguin 330, Fluval 404 and a sponge filter. (The fluval is pointed down to create current for a L114, so it doesn’t not affect the surface)

Stock list
4.5" JD
4 - 2" Rosy Barbs
4 - 1.5" Tinfoil Barbs
3.5" Leopard Cactus pleco
3" Rubbernose pleco

Do I need to add an airstone to the tank? Also what is remove the sponge filter, would an airstone be need then?

P.S. I know the Tinfoil will out grow the tank. I plan to return them when they get to big.

no, you don't need an airstone....and yes, a sponge filter needs either an airpump or a water pump to function properly.

it wont take long for those tinfoil barbs to outgrow that tank, maybe 6-8 months and they'll be 6" and knocking all ur decorations/plants over

Because i like the fish. I can return the fish when they are too large for smaller one is there a probelm with that.

I plan to do the same with the Gibby pleco i have another tank. He will get for 15"-20" but i will return him much sooner because i like to keep Gibbys.
