I need some help. If you live in Arizona, visit it often, or used to live there, please respond here, and I'll ask my questions.

And yes, it has to do with writing. There's a prize involved for me if I win!

;)

The Arizona Desert. Is there vacationing areas, well known areas. Places where snakes are common, snake bite incidents and things like that.

Camping areas, cabins, rock climbing, tourist areas where snakes are known to have bitten tourists.

Anything like that.

Is the Diamond Back Rattlesnake common in Arizona? I'm pretty sure it is, but want to double check.

Thanks,

Lila

I went there for a week after I graduated from high school..if you get desperate. Tuscon area. My dad has cousins that grew up there. I might be able to get an email addy.
I remember going up Mount Lemon for a picnic and hiking

For a girl from the midwest...I had a tough time breathing and keeping up in the high altitude.
We went there, to Old Tuscon and to the San Xavier mission and don't remember being told to watch out for snakes. My dad's aunt and uncle has a neat house with a desert landscape that backed up on open land.
I did a google search..it doesn have some info. I know you could have found it, but I was curious myself. http://phoenix.about.com/cs/desert/a/snakes01.htm

Hi Nursie,

Thanks for the offer. This story comp ended a while ago. And I had actually changed it to a Black Widow spider. The story came in second, no prize. But I am expanding it and working on it further to make it a children's book. :)

Thanks,

Lila

LOL From January, I never check the dates on these threads :soda: !! You just kind of assume they are recent. I only bother to notice when it is a poll :D

I agree, Nursie. I wish we had the option to close/remove our own threads started.

Hi. I was born and raised in Arizona. Living in Flagstaff, then North Scottsdale and into Peoria when I left my parents. I now live in Korea. Coming from Arizona, I have many great stories.

Bit by a rattlesnake when I was in high school. Scorpions crawling all over me at night on their way up my wall to the ceiling where they would dangle over me looking like they were about to drop down onto my face. I was there on the "Hottest Day" and bugs were dying in mid air. My friend fell down a mountain in his VW Bug and survived.... I love Zona.
