hello all...

I new here so this is my question.... I have a 75g salt tank that has been setup over a yr+ now.. it a fish only tank for now because i didnt have any luck keeping inverable or oral.. everytime i change the water I just add straight tap water into the tank when it get low.... after adding straight tap water i measure the saltinity (salt level) the (salt contain) doesnt change at all..... I been doing that for the last past year and fish never died off... so my question is why? i have ask people at the LFS and they say to take out at least 10% of water in the tank... mix and measure saltiny (salt content) of new water then add to tank.... IS this really necessary???

If you want to remove Nitrate buildup and other undesirable organics, a water change is needed. It also depends on how well the biological filter can handle the bioload being produced.
