I'm going to be moving 8 large pacu and a bunch of other fish. One is about 30", 2 are about 24" and the rest are about 16". I would think there is about 50-60lbs of fish. I am going to build a container that is 4x4 and will hold about 125g of water. The fish will be in this for no less than 24 hours, but could be as much as 48h hours. The temp will be about 74F. I would rather have a larger container but I am limited in weight in my van.
There are a few options. I could move half the pacu in two trips. I can run the existing pump, filter, and air pump on this container also (I can only do this if I move all the fish). Another option is to use Amquel plus and run air pumps or inject O2. I am under the impression that the amount of 02 needed by the fish will be much more than what I can do with air. I can not have a problem mid trip. There will be no way for me to correct it.
I have also looked into using MS-222 but I read that too light of a dose could cause their respiration to increase.
Any suggestions?
How much O2 would I need for 24 hrs?
Any idea on amount of ammonia produced per hour?
Does this seem like to many fish for 125g of water?
