*sigh*

My step-daughter has a 25 gallon aquarium upstairs... she is only here 6-10 days out of a month. In other words, it is her aquarium, but I do all the work. In this wonderfully overstocked tank, there are 5 neons, 1 green neon, 1 swordtail, one CAE, 1 black ghost knifefish, and a mated pair of angels.... I know, I know.... horrendously overstocked.

Anyway, she says that the angels are preparing to lay eggs... the female is getting round, and both fish are 'displaying' reproductive parts.

Is there anything in particular that I have to do for these fish (besides get a bigger tank)? Extra food? Extra or fewer water changes, etc... I am clueless when it comes to angels. And if any of these babies survive, does anyone want them?

Bah.... :thud:

the black ghost will get to large for the tank.....the neons will become food for the angels. :D Keep up with water changes, add slightly cooler water this will help in the breeding. More water changes if you want, feed live food if you have it, if not just keep with your schedual, it got them in the mood, right? are there plants in the tank? something for them to lay eggs on? I'd take some where ya at?

Yeah... big sword plants. I've been feeding them frozen bloodworms. I'm in Washington state... so a long way from NY. Probably not a good chance of survival for any babies... but we shall see.

they will paste the eggs to the backs of the sword leaves - if you can setting up a seperate 20-30gal minimum for the mated pair would be best otherswise just go with the flow - the neons will be eaten eventually - the angels will harass anything that comes near their eggs but chances are that if they are 1st time parents and they are store bred they will eventually eat their eggs - i know they are cichlids which are usually good parents but a lot of people have problems with angels - the main problem seems that most angles are no longer raised by their own parents and lack proper parental skills - therfor they don't know to raises their young properly and eatt he eggs - it's happened to me multiple times :thud: - i would just let nature take it's course
