ok, bought one labeled "Powderd blue Gouramies" yesterday this one has a slight pinkish lines on it? i think.

got another today labeld "blueGouramies" but now, that they are together they look differant, the new one has marble like marks. and was labeld dwarf Gouramies when i bought the "powderd Gouramies"

not sure what i have in my tank now!!! help help help :thud:

powder blues from what I've seen are dwarf blue gourami (colisa lalia). blue gourami are the same as opalines (trichogaster trichopterus), also known as the three spot gourami... Only it really has only two spots, and I guess the eye counts as the third.

blue (trichogaster trichopterus):

dwarf (powder blue; colisa lalia):

hope this helps.

thanks, yes the bottom one dwarf (powder blue; colisa lalia): is the one i got yesterday, but the one i got today doesn't have spots nor looks like the one you have there blue (trichogaster trichopterus) hopfully i will get a picture out to ya.

thanks again

Try looking up an Opaline Gourami, my thoughts are that that's most likely what you have. Although most gray looking gouramis are commonly labeled as "Blue Gouramis" If I find a picture I will put it up.

I'm thinking the same about the Opaline Gourami, however all the pics that i come across has the 2 spot on them, mine has no spots at all.

but look much alike like the Opaline Gourami but with out the spots.

just reread your initial post - there is a separate type of dwarf gourami that is just called a dwarf gourami. they are very similar in appearence to the powder blues but have more red/pink and a marblized patern (just like you discribed). I think you probably have a Colisa lalia (Dwarf Gourami) and a Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami (don't know the latin name). Both should be compatable as long as there is enough room overall.

Is it this kind of marble pattern?

The colisa and the trichogasters have different body shapes. I'd rely on that. Both have been hybridized into various color morphs.

You can have a trichogaster trichopterus with or without spots. Blue, opaline, and threespot (yes its the eye) are all the same fish.

Likewise with the dwarfs. There are a bunch of different color morphs, but they're pretty much all lalias. The natural patterning on lalias is striated and you can sometimes still see it on the single color fish.
