I am looking to set up a 90G tank. I would appreciate filter and heater suggestions.

In advance thanks

wlecome aboard aquariacentral.com. You should find some great answers and help here. Just ask any question you have and there will eb someone to help you out.

Large canister filters are nice for good filtration with many different media choices you can mix and match to fit your aquarium. Some people like to put in a sump, but for freshwater and only a 90 gal I would go with a large fluval or Catalina Systems canister. I have one rated for 100 gal running in my 55 gal and it does great. A heater is best calculated by how cold the water is (based on house temp for the year) and how big the aquarium is.

this site is great for calculating temperature and other events based on every aspect of your tank from glass vs acrylic, thickness of walls, substrate depth, etc. It will tell you what wattage heater(s) you'll require to keep the temp you desire in your tank

good aquarium calculator

for my 90 i have 2-200w heaters, and for the filter a eheim 2026 cannister.seems to work well, the temp never changes more than a degree, and i've never had trouble with the filter.

Highjack here sorry

What filter would you reccommend, size in litres per hour if you could, for a tank measuring 48x15x15, 1000litres per hour about? Like a Fluval 4 plus?

i would go with a hob and a cannister if you can.i like my filter, but notice a fair bit floating around that the filter can't reach.because i put my tank 1" off the wall i can't add a hob.the filter works well, but there is so much water i have to clean every couple of days to look it's best.

I like my fluval 404 a lot!!!!!! big als has 'em, in fact thats where i got mine, and fast shipping!!! Wouldn't know if you need two 404s or a 404 and a 304. I was going to get a 2nd 404 for my 72g, but I was referred to getting a 304 instead, so maybe a 2nd 404, but wait for more respones on that one!

Eheim Pro II Canister Thermofilter 2128.

Filtration and heating in one item. With legendary German engineering that will last longer than you will.

Anything else, is a compromise.
