My bf is considering getting rid of our common pl*co who resides in his own 33 G tank. We've had him for almost 2 years and yes, he is large. However, I figure if we take him to our LFS, someone will buy him just because he looks cool, and not keep him in the proper conditions, killing him! I know I may be worrying too much, but to me it's like giving up a cat or dog, and I don't want anything bad to happen to him. I wish there was something else we could do, but right now we don't really have the space for him. Any suggestions?

we just got a 90 Gal, and we used to have a 55 gal that he was in, but he would uproot plants a lot, so i dont know if i want to risk that in the 90 gal. but thanks for the suggestion

either give to your LFS or sacrifice some cheap plants for his well being, my pick, move him to the 90.

Why yes, theres a good idea
except for one little thing, the bf is on these forums!
:mad2
and maybe, maybe its me!?!?
all in good fun I suppose
anyways
that response about raising a dog in a closet, I think you need to pick your threads a little more carefully.
We arent asking for a lecture, and maybe understand the circumstances a little bit more.
What were YOUR mistakes when you started out? But, I am not going to start an argument here.
And, with that, maybe the dog is a toy pomeranian?!??! That closet would be HUGE man!
But, for the record, he is the ONLY fish in the tank, and we cant afford to keep getting larger and larger tanks for him, SO, if there is someone who can give him a good home, then your more then welcome to him.
Please post with an answer to our question, not with replies that are not relative to the inquiry.
Thanks again

The remark about the dog was not a personal attack. It was just to get you to imagine how your pleco feels. People unknowingly keep plecos in small tanks all the time, I just try to inform when I can.

please, you've had him for two years. That's hardly "just starting out"
give him away so someone can take care of him better.
